In June 1976, an Air France plane was hijacked en route from Tel Aviv to Paris. The hijackers, Arabs and Germans, redirected the flight to Entebbe, where it landed. Several days later, the government of Israel, headed by Yitzhak Rabin, approved a military operation to free the hostages. A special IDF force – including personnel from the Israel Air Force, Paratroopers Brigade, Golani Brigade and Sayeret Matkal commando unit – landed at the airport in Entebbe airport and, in a heroic operation, freed the hostages and flew them back to Israel. The exhibit describes the hijacking, the days in captivity, and the actions of the government, the Mossad and the IDF.
