Prof. Gideon Greif is an Israeli historian and educator. At the center of his research is the study of the Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp.
In this field, his pioneering research on the "Sonderkommando" in Auschwitz, "We Wept without Tears", was published worldwide, changed the face of Auschwitz research and became a bestseller in all the countries where it was published. The book recently served as a source of inspiration for the creator of the award-winning and Oscar-winning film: "Son of Shaul".
Gideon Greif is the chief historian of the "Shem Olam" Institute for Holocaust Research, Documentation and Teaching.
