How does a patriotic but non-Jewish minority feel in the Jewish nation-state
In 2018, I was one of the leaders of the protest to amend Israel's Nationality Law. I continue with the public effort to amend the law, through lectures, panel discussions, etc.
My combination as a man of security for many years of my life, and as a minority living in a Jewish and democratic state, allows me to present an interesting prism about the Israeli reality.

In the lecture, I deal with the components of the identity of each person, and his circles of belonging, and examine them in the face of the conflict in being a non-Jewish ethnic minority in a Jewish and democratic state.

My name is Safwan Marich, 52 years old, married and a father of three. I was born and educated in the Druze village of Daliyat al-Carmel, Israel. Upon graduation, I enlisted in the IDF and served for 25 years in command and combat positions. I served as a reserve battalion commander for seven years.
I have a bachelor's degree in Middle Eastern Studies and a master's degree in Political Science from the University of Haifa. I teach Civics at Oranim College.
I am currently a manager at the largest humanitarian organization in Israel. I run assistance programs for all minorities in Israel, and refugees in the Middle East.
